FAR FROM HEAVEN becomes a musical
Todd Haynes' brilliant 2002 melodrama FAR FROM HEAVEN got four Oscar nominations, including one for star Julianne Moore, director Todd Haynes and composer Elmer Bernstein. Indeed the lush score made the vibrant take on people's lives in 1950s Connecticut almost feel like a musical. And now it is. The team behind the Broadway hit Grey Gardens (also adapted from a film) has now transformed the emotional story into smart musical theater. With music composed by Scott Frankel with lyrics by Michael Korie and directed by Michael Grief, Far From Heaven is debuting at the Williamstown Theater Festival before going to New York City's Playwrights Horizons.
